Koradi Thermal Power Plant (Unit 11 & 12)

MRIDC is taking a lead role in implementing the infrastructural facilities. MRIDC has been awarded the MAHAGENCO Koradi Project by Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL). The 2x660 MW (Unit 11 & 12) MAHAGENCO Koradi Project involves comprehensive civil, structural, and architectural works for key plant facilities within the thermal power expansion at Maharashtra State Power Generation Company Limited (MAHAGENCO), located in Koradi, Nagpur district.

Salient features:

  • The work scope covers construction of Transformer Yards and Power House Buildings for Units 11 & 12, including all associated foundations and internal structures. Major works include Turbine Generator (TG) foundations with deck slabs, Control Room Buildings, Service and DG Buildings, Air Compressor House, CW and ACW Pump Houses with forebay, channels, and concrete volute pumps, as well as CW Treatment & Chlorination Plant facilities.

    The project also encompasses infrastructure works such as CW pipeline laying, CPU regeneration systems, gas cylinder storage areas, fire water booster pump sheds, safety control room, fire-fighting pipe pedestals and trenches, pipe and cable racks, area paving, plant roads and drains, and complete plant area leveling and grading.

    Overall, the package supports the development of critical infrastructure required for reliable operation of the 2x660 MW supercritical thermal power units at Koradi.

Core Power Generation Facilities

  • Power House & TG Foundations: Construction of the main power house building and heavy-duty foundations for Turbine Generators (TG).
  • Control & Service Centers: Control Room Building, Service Building, and Safety Control Room (including electrical works).
  • Electrical Infrastructure: Transformer Yard and associated cable racks.

Water & Mechanical Support Systems

  • Cooling Water (CW) Systems: CW Pump House, Forebay, Volute Pumps, Treatment/Chlorination plant, and pipeline laying.
  • Auxiliary Systems: ACW Pump House, CPU Regeneration, Air Compressor House, and DG Building.
  • Fire & Safety: Fire Water Booster Pump Shed, pipe pedestals, and gas cylinder storage.

Site Development & Utilities

  • Site Prep: Area leveling, grading, and paving.
  • Logistics: Plant roads, internal block roads, and drainage systems.
  • Sanitation: Sewage water lines within the power block.
  • HVAC: Complete AC and ventilation system installation.

Structural Steel Component

The corporation's ability to monitor projects in real-time prevents the ‘legacy delays’ typical of older rail projects.

  • Erection: Focused specifically on the installation of Shop Fabricated Structures for the Main Power House.
